For this task, we saw a video called "Do Schools Kill Creativity?" that is a conference by Ken Robinson, he is a teacher and a writer, he talks about creativity and education –a topic really controversial in this moment-. The main topic is that he says that the education in this moment is really focus in some things like math or languages, and that are importants, but the education destroys the creative capacities of children because she don’t give the same importance to arts, like dance or theater.

I haven’t known this guy, I saw the video and I think it’s amazing, I haven’t thought this topic deeply, but if you think about it, you will realize that we are really immersed in our economical system so education is focused on that system, so we are doing professionals to the system and we don’t give the space for other things that should has the same status. 

One of the phrases of Robinson was really interesting to me and I’m really agreed with this topic “If you are not prepared to be wrong, you can’t be prepare to be original”. I think that this one of the more essential things of the conference, because he is right, when we grow up, we make the things try to do everything well and we try to impress the people and be the best, but this is not the important in the society –or at least, I think so-. We are in a really fundamental in education and maybe we could related the actual moment in Chile with the conference, because both are conditioned with the economical system, and we have to do something to change the approach with we see the education, maybe we have to change some of our mentality to start to value all the things, and not only those that are polite.   

"El Baile de la Victoria"

The  last year I took a sabbatical year, I took this year because I wanted to do many thigns that I couldn’t do if you were studying, I worked, I studied English and I decided what career I want to take. Also, I could do many others things because I have time, one of this was go to the “Book Fair” in the Mapocho station. I really like read and this year I could read many books.

Well, when I went to the fair I see many books, one of their caught my attention, that was “El Baile de la Victoria” by the chilean author, Antonio Skarmeta. I read the book and I fell in love with it, the plot of the book is about a girl, who is a ballet dancer and her name is Victoria, and two inmates recently released, one of them is boy and his name is Angel Santiago and the other is an adult who is called Vergara Grey, three of them have very different plans about their lives but life unites.

I really love this book, and I can't say that Skarmeta is my favorite writer because it’s the only that I have read by him, but it’s my favorite book. Later to read the book, I saw the movie based on the movie, but I was really disappointed the film, because it’s very very different to the book, it has very little relationship between them (book and movie) and I really hated it. The actors are good, Ricardo Darin –an argentine actor that I like- acts in the movie, but this story, for me, it’s very bad. 

So, for the moment, this is my favorite and I had really good luck to find it in the fair, without any suggestion.

Today I’m going to talk about internet and websites.

First, I’m not a fan of internet really, I prefer do others thing, but anyway I need it and I use it. 

Every day I check my e-mail and the e-mail from my course and my facebook, actually I see these sites more than once a day. Often, I read news from some alternative websites like http://www.elciudadano.cl/ and http://www.elmostrador.cl/ , but I also review the “official” newspapers on the net, especially to see news about my soccer team, for this purpose I visit websites like www.terra.cl or www.prensafutbol.cl , for more information I check forum, where everyone talks about they want related with the team. 

But the website that I really enjoy is www.charlatecnica.cl this is a blog about soccer, this website is made by normal people, are not necessarily journalists. I like it because the website contains info but they write with humor, the writers are very sarcastic but in a good way, also they people can comment in every post. The post are almost always related with soccer and they do a post for every match of the Chilean championship.  Unfortunately, since I enter to the University I don’t have much time to see this page.

Also of these websites, when I spend my time in the computer I try to surf in the internet searching new things, I try to read a lot and I dowload many movies of the web. I cannot deny that internet is very useful and practical to find what you want.

My favorite actress, Keira Knightley.

Today I can write about wherever I want.

Well, I love see movies, I the past year I saw I lot, but now I don’t have much time and I can’t see movies.

My favorite actress is Keira Knightley and my favorite actor is Leonardo DiCaprio.

I’m going to talk about Keira, because I love her and her movies.

She is a British actress; she was born in London in March, 26 of 1985. Now she has 26 years old.  Her first experience in the cinema it was in the film “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace”, but in a small role, then she participated in another movie called “Bed it like Beckham” in a role more important, but she became famous with “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl”, then she acted in many movies and appeared in some magazines.

My favorites movies of her are “Pride and Prejudice”, “Silk” and “Atonement”, like you can see I really love old movies, I want to see, movies that are set in past times. “Silk” is the least popular film of the three and really not much people knows about the movie. This movie is about a love history, but no a typical love history instead of this it’s dramatic and talk too little. The movie is in the XIX decade. The plot of the film is about a man, that lives in France, and he have to travel to Japan searching silkworm, and her wife has to stay alone in France. This is the start of the movie.

Well, Keira Knightley is my favorite actress, especially because I really like the most of her movies.

A beatiful photo . . .

Today I’m going to talk about about a photo that I like.

The persons of the picture are my sister and me, we are really small. I think that I had around 6 years old and my sister had around 3 years.

I don’t remember who took the picture, the most probably is that my mother or my mother took the picture, I think that they took it because it could be my first days of school of the year because, like you can see in the photo, I dressed an uniform of my school.

My sister uploaded these photos a few time ago, only the Saturday, and we looked through much old pictures and I was very moved, because we have a lot of old photos and they’re really beautiful. I like this because I am with my sister and it’s very affectionate because both are really young.

Another thing that I loved is the place that was taken, that it’s my first house; I have lived in 3 houses (1 house and 2 apartments). Actually it was 2 houses, one big house in the front and a little house of wood in the back, separate for a courtyard. In the big house lived my grandparents, my aunt and my cousins.

And in the small house lived my parents, my sister and me. I lived there many years since I was born to I was 13 years old. That house was great! Because we live all together and we were really close especially with my cousin. Also, I had many animals (it seems a zoo), we had dogs, cats, birds, one tortoise, one rabbit and I love animals.

Anyway, I love this picture because it’s really remember me my childhood.

The Big Education problem . . .

Well, last Tuesday we did not have English classes because we had an activity in the university, that activity was for discuss and speak about the Education and organize the strike of last Thursday.

I think that Education is the really big problem of the society, because maybe the problem doesn’t affect to everyone personally but we have to fight for the Education for everyone, especially for the people who can’t study for money or because they doesn’t have the opportunities.

Maybe I don’t have I really active participation, but I try to do what I can, I hope be more active in the near future.  I went to the last strike and I think it was a good way to show our disagreement with the education in this moment, but there are things to improve like organization for the future strikes.

I believe that people must to show the discontent with the system because is the way to see that the things are not well in this system and many people doesn’t have opportunities.

I think that our demands are really important because we need a free education for everyone and no more privatization of education.   

And the strike of today for the HidroAysén’s reservoir was really important too, because we have to take care the nature of Chile and we can't support the enrichment of a few people.

Itinerary London trip

Hi people!

Today I’m gonna talk about something that we did last Tuesday.

Last Tuesday I had to search for info in the web about places that I want to visit on a travel in London, in order to fill a table with prices, location (subway station), day to visit and travel zone. In others words we have to do an itinerary about our trip.

The activity was ok and it some kind easy; I knew about some places in London but there are other that I haven’t heard before.

The place that caught my attention was Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum because I didn't know this museum and the photos of the website seems really awesome.

British Museum sounds really interesting too and I like the free fee.

And who knows? Maybe someday I’ll go to London and I’ll know these places in person.
